Attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers. Attended US Army Rotary Wing Flight School. Served a one-year combat tour in Republic of Vietnam.

Served in various aviation pilot and leadership positions including Standardization Instructor Pilot, Electronic Warfare Officer, Tactical Operations Officer, and Joint Operations Officer and platoon leader. Deployed to El Salvador for Humanitarian Support mission in 1998, Bosnia for NATO Peacekeeping mission 2/2003-5/2004, Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom 7/2006-7/2007. Retired US Army, 4/1/2009.
